Flying Wednesday 30 December 2009

A fairly warm day on field (~40 deg) but with strong dust devils and (to the east) cumulus clouds to mark the thermals.

We had a fly in from the Aeroscene group with their Robinson R34 Helicopter, a Cessna and a Sportair. Derek took Richard Berry for a training flight and a BBQ lunch was enjoyed (thanks to Mark, Georgia and Christian as cooks) before a series of AEFs was conducted by Peter Cassidy.

Anthony Smith flew his Bergy to Waikerie with Georgia Tyler along to gain cross-country experience. We could hear radio calls from the gliders at Waikerie throughout the afternoon (particularly a certain Mr. Newton in WVA).

Greg Newbold providing most of the winching before having a last flight that was long and high (you’ll have to ask him exactly how long and how high).

Thanks to Alan, Derek, Greg, Mark, Anthony, Justine, Christian, Peter, Georgia, Richard and Kevin Barnes for coming along and helping out with operations.
