The Janus arrived at Stonefield on Saturday 15 July 2017. It is AUGC’s new advanced trainer. Being a fibreglass two-seater, she’s a bit heavier to rig than our other aircraft, which led to one wag dubbing her “the Janusoarus”, a name that seemed to stick. Given the necessity to rig the Janus first, flying started a bit later than usual; but everyone who was at the airfield got a flight or two (except Peter Cassidy who helpfully flew some aerotows in the pawnee). It wasn’t much of a soaring day, but Cath and Heath L managed a 34min flight in the Janus, the K13 did some training flights, and Nick Gilbert flew his Libelle. The day wound up with an excellent three course dinner of Mexican food and cheesecake, provided by Cathy Conway (thanks!).
