March Long Weekend Flying

The weather for the long weekend was just awesome with good flying all three days. There was significant cloud development Monday so it wasn’t going particularly high (5700’) but there were reports of thermals in excess of 10 knots. Dennis Medlow reported average thermal strengths of 6 Knots with instantaneous thermal strength off the top end of the scale. Simply awesome! However, there were significant areas of sink.

We would like to thank everyone for their help with running the AEF Day on Saturday. We had a great turnout and the flying was good. Everyone got a go and had some fun. Someone that needs highlighting is Darren Alcoe, who put on a spectacular dinner Saturday night with a home made Spaghetti Bolognese, herb bread and cheesecake for dessert. Just AWESOME! He then followed that up with another delicious dinner on Sunday night. Fantastic.
