Challenges and a little flying. Light showers came at intervals with initial cu being replaced with 8/8 cloud for most of the day. Rainbows were at times quite pretty…
The first three launches in moderately high wind were either cable breaks or weak link breaks. Everyone got lots of practice at finding traces. In one attempt Michael Conway and Brenton Wait found a pair of sunglasses and a spare fully made up weak link coupling (now that’s luck) before the trace was found by Max.
Sam got some solo practice doing high wind circuits after a check with Catherine Conway. Brenton had a check then took Lewis for a 1min circuit, in which he oversped on launch (pulling up too slow so transition to full climb into the windshear)and chose to bung off but the cable break beat him to it.
Michael, Hamish, and Max also managed single circuits each before Peter did the hangar run.
The Pie Cart went for an accidental ride today with people on board but stopped prior to hitting Cathy’s car.
At the end of the day Redmond (and co.) had finally solved the motorfalke magneto and headed off into the evening sky. Lewis helped Brenton swap the Puchatek’s skid plate around- it has worn almost through in the first position.
Thanks to Cathy for enabling the day (and leaving late to allow another pair). Thanks also to Redmond’s efforts to get the motorfalke back in the air.
