Flying Saturday 16 July 2011

A pleasant winters day with almost no wind and a few thermals to 2000′. BVGC were out in force helping with weed eradication around the Clubhouse and the AUGC trailer brought up a trailer load of wood for next week’s conflaguation. BVGC were flying their (privately owned) K7 and Boomerang, AUGC flew the Pukatek.

We had the unique situation of 2 winches being in action with both the FDU & SAA winches running, although FDU retired hurt part way through the day (its better now). Paul Mason (Regional GFA Operations Director) was on field to check out the FDU CFI (Pete Cesco) on winching and to view the FDU winch in action.

Roger Chapman helped out with some winch maintenance and later got flight of the day in KRO in some mid afternoon thermals. The K7 was the best performer overall with a 47 min flight.

Thanks to Michael S & Derek Spencer for winching and Roger C for helping out with the winch maintenance.
